In this article I’ll be talking about, Nigerian celebrities who died before reaching 40 years old. It’s so sad we had to them at their very young age and I pray they rest in perfect peace.

 

Some of the celebrities on this list were entertainers who while they were alive did their best to entertain us and preserve the Nigerian entertainment industry and for this reason, they will never be forgotten.

 

1. MUNA OBIEKWE:

 

Popular Nollywood actor Muna Obiekwe was one of Nigeria’s best actors before he died on Sunday, 18th January, 2015 after a long battle with kidney disease. He was only 36 years old when he died.

 

2. DAGRIN:

 

Fast rising rapper Olaitan Olanipekun well known as Dagrin, left Nigerians devastated when he died on the 22nd April, 2010. He died at the age of 25, exactly 8 days after he was involved in a terrible car accident just at the front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege motor road, Mushin, Lagos.

 

3. PICTURE KODAK:

 

Love Divine Eke, better known as Picture Kodak was a professional dancer and video vixen. Though she wasn’t very popular until her death, she was one of Nigeria’s best dancers. She was known for the energy she puts into dancing.

Picture Kodak has been featured by several popular Nigerian artiste in their music videos, including Olamide, Burna Boy, Slim Case, and many others. She died at Clarence Peters residence in Omole estate on the 29th of April, 2020. It was said that she was electrocuted while charging her mobile phone.

4. KEFEE:

Top gospel singer, Kefee Obareki died of lung failure in a hospital in Los Angeles on Thursday, 12 june, 2014 after staying in a coma for 15 days.

Kefee was married to popular OAP, Esosa Don Momoh at the time of her death after her 3 years marriage to first husband Alec Godwin ended in 2008. She died at the age of 34 and was buried on Friday 11th July, 2014 in her hometown Okpara Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

5. GOLDIE:

Former Big Brother Africa star and singer, Susan Oluwabimpe better known as “Goldie” Filani Harvey had a promising career and had established herself as one of Nigeria’s top female musicians before she died on the 14th of January February 2013, at age 31.

She died after returning to Nigeria from the 2013 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California, USA. Getting to Nigeria, she complained of a headache and was rushed to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

6. NELSON GOLD:

Promising Nollywood actor, Nelson Gold died on set after he slumped at a movie location in Enugu. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was in coma until he died on the 15th of June 2018.

7. OKWY CHUKWUJEKWU:

On Tuesday, 5th of September, 2017, 27-year-old actor, Okwy Chukwujekwu popularly known as ‘Main Boss-man’ slumped on set at a movie location. According to autopsy, his death was caused by an asthmatic attack.

8. CLEM OYENKA.

Popular Nollywood actor Clems Onyeka was shot dead on the 14, of October 2014, in crossfire between men of the police and some armed robbers in Asaba, Delta State. Clem was buried at his father’s compound in Ikeduru, Imo state.

9. ZARA GRETTI:

Popular Nigerian singer, Zara died on the 28 of March, 2014 after a battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born Margret Oluwatoyin Ejiro Joseph, Zara died at the age of 28.

10. TOSYN BUCKNOR:

Popular Nigerian media personality, Oluwatosin Tosyn Bucknor died on the 19th of November, 2018 due to complications from sickle cell.

She was found dead by her husband, Aurelien Boyer, when he arrived home from work on that evening.
